• Hello!
Lydia has 2 goals in life: take good photos and be a good person.
Lydia Brewer is a full-time photographer with over 25 years of experience, based in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. With a background in both photography and caregiving, she brings patience, empathy, humor, and a calm, grounded presence to every session. Equally known for her “punk rock” grit, and strong DIY spirit, Lydia approaches both life and work with creativity and care.
When she’s not behind the camera, you’ll find her roller skating, decorating for the holidays, performing living room karaoke, homesteading, embracing charming “granny” pastimes, hunting for estate sale treasures, or doting on her beloved pets—all with a soundtrack of David Bowie or podcasts playing in the background. She runs on coffee, cheese, dry shampoo, and an endless drive to create.
Lydia’s greatest strength is helping people feel comfortable and truly seen. Through heartfelt connection and quiet observation, she captures candid, joyful images that reflect each person’s genuine story.
Credentials and Affiliations
Licensed and insured, I bring over two decades of experience as a professional photographer, serving as head photographer for organizations such as Optum, The Everett Clinic, and The Polyclinic (2019–2024), Urban Craft Uprising (2017–present), and Alaska Airlines (2024–present), while also capturing events for the University of Washington, Hopelink, Seattle Reign, GSBA, and the Washington Athletic Club. My career includes long-standing roles with Entre Hermanos, ArtPlace America, and numerous roller derby leagues, as well as volunteer work with Soulumination, Seafair Summerfest, and other community organizations. I've been recognized with multiple ParentMap Golden Teddy Awards, hold an AA with honors from The Art Institute of Seattle, and have received scholarships from the Bainbridge Arts & Humanities Council and Rotary Club. As a member of Nikon Professional Services, and formerly of the Professional Photographers of America, I've partnered with Playfish Media, interned at Affinity Photography, and continue to work as a second photographer for IJPhoto and JaneG. With countless headshot, senior, family, event, and wedding clients—and a strong record of community sponsorships and donations—I’m proud to offer both artistic excellence and deep-rooted community engagement in every session.
