What to Expect During a High School Senior Session

What to Expect During Your Senior Session

Booking your senior portraits is a big step, and this session is all about celebrating you—your personality, your style, and the energy you bring. My job is to make the whole thing easy, relaxed, and completely you.

My Goal: Capture Your Personality

I want your photos to feel authentic, not staged. I’ll take time to get to know you, notice how you naturally move, and look for the little sparks that make you light up. Sometimes I’ll step in with clear direction, and sometimes I’ll let you do your thing. Either way, the images should look real—not stiff or forced—just you at your best.

Guided Posing

From the first shot, you’ll never have to wonder what to do with your hands, where to look, or how to stand. I’ll guide you step by step—demonstrating poses, giving easy prompts, and adjusting small details like a shift of the shoulders or a tilt of the chin. My coaching continues the entire session, whether we’re going for something polished and professional or casual and fun.

You bring your personality, I’ll fine-tune the angles. And don’t be afraid to move—I photograph high-action sports, so trust me, I can keep up. The result: portraits that feel effortless, even though a lot of care went into creating them.

Before the Session

A little preparation makes a big difference:

  • Plan your outfits. Bring a variety—casual, classic, bold—so your gallery reflects different sides of you. Shoes, layers, and accessories can switch up a look without needing a full outfit change.

  • Rest up. A good night’s sleep helps you feel fresh and relaxed (and keeps under-eye circles at bay).

  • Come confident. Wear what feels good, style your hair in a way that feels like you, and don’t stress about being “perfect.” Confidence always photographs best.

  • Think ahead. Props like a jersey, instrument, or cap and gown? Make sure they’re clean, pressed, and ready to go. Details like this keep the session smooth and fun.

After the Session

Here’s what you can expect once we wrap:

  • Editing & Delivery. Within about three weeks, you’ll get high-resolution versions of the best images with clean, natural editing. Then, you’ll choose 15 favorites for expert retouching, which take about one additional week.

  • Yearbook Photo. I’ll deliver one perfected image sized exactly to your school’s requirements.

  • Mini Cap & Gown Session. A bonus mini shoot before or after graduation, so you have portraits from both milestones.

  • Online Gallery. Your private, custom gallery stays live for six months—download, share, and order professional prints or keepsakes right from there.

  • Tweaks & Rush Delivery. Need a small adjustment? Just ask. Working on a deadline? Rush options are available.

  • Extras. Want to elevate the experience? Professional hair and makeup can be added to your session.

  • Flexibility. Sessions are available any day of the week, year-round—including weekends.

By the end, you’ll have a collection of polished, personal images that reflect who you are in this season of life—ready for your yearbook, graduation, and beyond.

Final Thoughts

Senior photos don’t have to feel awkward or stressful. With a little guidance, a few laughs, and your personality front and center, we’ll create portraits that are fresh, natural, and uniquely you.
