Photo Session Clothing Tips
If dressing a family, dress the hardest to shop for person first, and work around that outfit.
Work with what you have first and only buy what you need to fill in the rest.
Comfort is my biggest concern!
Dressing in layers is the easiest way to quickly switch up an outfit. i.e. sweaters, jewelry, jackets, scarves, etc. make for easy dressing up or down of an outfit.
Solids work best.
Texture is good.
Neutral tones and greys work well.
Think of your background and how you think you might blend in or stand out depending on what you wear.
A lot of white is not favorable. This is the tone that can change the shape of a person - turning an average sized person larger than they are.
Stripes are fine, lots of busy patterns are not.
No logos, cartoons or words. (Unless trying to deliver a message)
Try to limit your color palate to no more than 3 tones. i.e. Blue, brown and off-white (Multiple shades of the same color are fine though - think light blue, dark blue, dark brown, light brown and off-white)
Red and orange typically does not photograph well - especially in bright sun.
Try not to "date" yourself with trendy or period clothing.
Think simple.
